    Dr Joanne Martin comes to Shaw Road Medical Centre with over 30 years clinical experience. She graduated with honours from the University of Queensland in 1988 and obtained her fellowship with the RACGP in 1993, and has wide experience in all aspects of general practice. She worked for 3 years as a Paediatric Registrar and continues to especially enjoy looking after the health and well being of babies and children. She also has a special interest in mental health and women’s health (including antenatal care). She has been working in remote indigenous communities in Queensland and the Northern Territory for more than 10 years and continues this important work for some weeks each year.

    David's approach to medicine involves inclusive, person-centred care, provided in a safe environment. He has an interest in chronic disease management and paediatrics, but his strongest passion is with mental health.

    Before medicine, he completed a Bachelor of Psychological Science (Honours) at the University of Queensland. In his work as a GP, he has come to realise the importance in raising awareness for mental health concerns, as the first point of contact for many. He has found it particularly rewarding working with teenanger and young adults, especially with issues such as depression, anxiety, panic disorder and adjusting to change of life stages.

    Outside of work, you might find David out pursuing his photography passion, or on a tennis court or in a rock climbing gym. He also enjoys playing the piano and bass guitar, though isn't particularly good at either.

    Nathan’s philosophy in General Practice is seated on making sure every patient feels listened to and empowered. He knows your health journey continues long after you have left the consultation room. He empowers patients who require care for diabetes, respiratory, renal, hormone, and heart health issues. He is passionate about helping patients tackle issues with mental health, sexual health, and helping travelers prepare for the rigours of any journey.

    Dr Torres has extensive experience in women's health, both clinically and academically in 3 different countries: USA, Brazil and Australia. She was a Post Doc Fellow at the famous Mayo Clinic hospital where she performed outstanding research in gynaecological oncology and earned a Master’s degree in biomedical science and clinical and Translational Science. She finished her post graduate diploma in gynaecology in Brazil and she also performed a PhD in oncology focusing on cervical cancer. She arrived in Australia 5 years ago in which she has worked in leading hospitals such as Western Health in Melbourne, Gold Coast University Hospital and recently at the Royal Brisbane Women's Hospital and is finishing her RANZCOG advanced diploma. Dr Torres is passionate about women’s health and joined MyLocalDoc to take care of women that need individualized care.

    Mary-Ellen has worked in full time general practice for over 30 years in the Clayfield/Nundah area and enjoys maintaining long-term relationships with patients and their families.

    She graduated from University of Queensland in 1988 and obtained her fellowship with the RACGP in 1994. She is an experienced GP in all aspects of general practice and family medicine with a special interest in women’s health and paediatrics.

    Dr Amelia Moane has been actively involved in the detection and management of skin cancer for 25 years and for the past 21 years has worked solely in the field of skin cancer medicine. She has extensive experience in full body skin cancer checks, mole scanning, spot checks, and treatment of cancers when detected with both surgical and nonsurgical methods.

    Dr Amelia Moane was raised in Tasmania and gained her Bachelor of Medical Science and her Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery graduating with honours from the University of Tasmania in 1996. She then went on to achieve her Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2002 and completed further training in dermoscopy, skin cancer medicine and surgery in 2003. Dr Amelia is a member of the Skin Cancer College of Australasia.

    Away from work, Dr Amelia is a proud Mum of two wonderful boys who keep her busy with their sports, social lives, and interests. When she gets a chance to escape, she loves a good bushwalk. And, in spite of her work, Dr Amelia has a tremendous appreciation for the stunning beaches of South East Queensland and you may spot her on occasion of an early morning or late afternoon in full sun safe gear and heavy zinc cream enjoying the great outdoors.

    Dr. Warwick Marks started his career as a Pharmacist and completed his Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm) from University of Sydney in 1994. Later he acquired his Bachelor of Medicine / Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the University of Queensland in 2001. Dr. Marks is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP).

    Dr. Warwick Marks’s special interest areas are Travel Medicine, Employment Medicals, Aviation Medicine and Cosmetic Medicine. He is also interested in treating Skin conditions.

    Dr. Marks enjoys working collaboratively with all his patients and assisting them with their health.

  • Dr Karen Yew is a Specialist GP in women's health. She graduated from the University of Queensland in 2012 and completed her general practice training in Rockhampton. She developed a passion for women's health whilst working in the Sunshine coast. There, she began to specialise in contraception, fertility and menstrual disorders. In recent years, she has become more interested in the management of menopause and the concept of healthy aging. Dr Karen has been an Australasian Menopause Society (AMS) member since 2022 and has attended every annual conference to keep abreast of the latest news. Dr Karen believes in listening to her patients and individualising healthcare to their needs. She is available for a full range of women's health procedures including Implanon insertions and removals, all types of IUD insertions and removals (including copper) and iron infusions.

    In her free time, Dr Karen enjoys spending time with her husband and 2 young children. Originally from Singapore, she is fluent in Mandarin and is happy to consult in it.

    Dr Chan completed a biochemistry degree in Hong Kong before obtaining his medical degree from the University of Queensland in 2012. He is a Fellow with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and a Fellow of the Australasian College of Cosmetic Surgery.

    Dr Chan completed his cosmetic medicine training with the Australasian College of Cosmetic Surgery and Medicine (ACCSM). He is a leader in non-invasive aesthetic procedures; One of the few cosmetic and skin cancer doctors in Queensland to offer ultrasound guided injections as part of his treatments, to enhance the safety of injectable treatments and improve results. ,

    Complemented by his biochemistry knowledge, he also offers a holistic approach to help patients address different barriers during their weight loss program. He is passionate about combining his weight loss management with the latest technology to bring his patients the best possible outcome.

  • Dr. May is a local Queensland medical graduate with a wealth of experience from her time at Toowoomba Base, The Prince Charles Hospitals in Queensland, and Westmead and Blacktown hospitals in Sydney. She furthered her training in general practice in NSW, earning her fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP).

    Dr. May has a keen interest in cardiovascular disease, respiratory medicine, dermatology, general paediatrics, pre-employment medicals, Q fever vaccination, and travel consults, including Yellow Fever vaccination. She provides thorough skin checks, performs skin cancer excisions, and offers iron infusions for patients with iron deficiency. Passionate about women's health, Dr. May offers services such as contraception Implanon, IUD removal, antenatal care, menopause hormone therapy (MHT), gender care, sexual health, and HIV PrEP prescribing.

    Outside of her professional life, Dr. May loves to stay active with swimming and Pilates, explore new places through travel, and cherish moments with her family. She's fluent in Mandarin Chinese and the Taiwanese dialect, adding a personal touch to her patient care.

  • Dr. Michael Okonkwo has been serving the Northside of Brisbane for 15 years, providing comprehensive care to his diverse patient base. With a special interest in dermatology, he is skilled in diagnosing and managing skin conditions, as well as performing minor procedures to remove suspicious lesions. Dr. Okonkwo also brings extensive experience in managing chronic diseases, including diabetes, cardiac conditions, and respiratory disorders. His approachable and friendly demeanor has endeared him to many families, with children particularly enjoying his warm smile during visits. Additionally, Dr. Okonkwo is proficient in women's health, including Mirena and Implanon insertions, offering personalized care to meet his patients' needs.
