MyLocalDoc Understanding Autism in Australia

Dr. David Tsai with Occupational Therapist Jacinda McLaughlin | Autism Awareness Month

Join Dr. David Tsai as he sits down with Occupational Therapist Jacinda McLaughlin from the Neurodiversity Group to discuss Autism during Autism Awareness Month. Autism is a lifelong developmental condition characterized by challenges in social interaction, communication, restricted and repetitive interests and behaviors, and sensory sensitivities.

In Australia, about 1 in 70 people, or roughly 353,880 individuals, are on the autism spectrum. It's more prevalent in boys than girls, with a ratio of 4:1. If you have concerns about your child, no matter how minor, speak with your GP today. Early intervention can make a significant difference.

At MyLocalDoc Chermside (MLD), we are passionate about understanding all our patients to provide the best quality and accessible primary healthcare.
